LCE welcomes Energy and Sustainability Consultant, Abby Courtin to the team

We are very excited to welcome Abby Courtin, our new Energy and Sustainability Consultant to our expanding team.

Abby has previously worked in roles focusing on procurement, compliance, and energy management so brings with her a wealth of knowledge within the industry. She has already been a great asset to the team, her specialist knowledge on the energy procurement has been especially vital in guiding our clients through these turbulent markets.

We asked Abby to complete some questions relating to work and personal life and here is what she had to say.

What’s the best task you are working on right now?

I’m working on a series of sustainability roadshows with an NHS client which will culminate in spending 3 days on site talking to staff about energy conservation in the home and at work. I ran one earlier this year with another client and it was an enjoyable experience.

What are you passionate about?

My miniature dachshund Dudley! I love taking him for long walks in the countryside. Some people think miniature dachshund’s are unable to walk more than short distances, but that isn’t true. They were bred originally to hunt and are extremely fast and agile provided they are looked after correctly.

Do you have a talent or hobby you do outside of work?

Gardening. I like spending time on my allotment. In the next year, my aim to clear more of my allotment so I can put up a greenhouse.

What’s something you would like to do this year that you have never done before?

I’d like to work end to end on a heat decarbonisation project.

What advice would you give to someone looking to craft an energy/sustainability management plan?

Understand where you are in terms of your metering, where it is supplying, and how much you are consuming. Identify where you want to be and by what date. Speak to LCE about designing a plan to get from where you are to where you want to be.

Abby said, “Working at LCE, feels like a job with a purpose. We all need to reduce our energy consumption and that is what I’m helping customers to do. My favourite part of the job so far is developing new services for clients and expanding how we use our energy management system. The working days can vary significantly. If I’m not on site with a client, I work from home. I like to block out time for each client so I can focus on their tasks. I attend meetings online most days as does my dog Dudley!”

Welcome to the team Abby (and Dudley)!
