We are very excited to welcome Naveen Palaniappan, our new Energy and Sustainability Engineer to our expanding team.
Naveen has already hit the ground running and has already been a great asset to the team and it has been clear already that he has a real passion in helping clients succeed with their sustainability goals for the future.
We asked Naveen to complete some questions relating to work and personal life and here is what he had to say.
1. Why did you choose a career in the Energy and Environmental industry?
Growing up, I loved travelling and seeing new places. During one of my trips, I saw how paint factories were polluting the environment, which really upset me. This memory stayed with me since childhood. I wanted to do something to help the environment, so I chose a career in the Energy and Environmental industry. This way, I can work towards changing harmful practices and help create a clean
er environment.
2. Who inspires you?
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam inspires me a lot. His story of growing from a small town to becoming a well-known scientist and the President of India shows that with hard work, anything is possible. He was always curious and loved to learn, which is something I admire. His dedication to science, education, and dreaming big motivates me to work hard too. He believed that one person can make a big difference in the world, which makes me want to contribute positively in my own way. His life shows that with knowledge and a good heart, we can work towards making the world a better place.
3. What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about the energy industry, espec
ially the new ideas coming up in the solar industry. I love learning about how we can get better at using the sun's energy to power our lives. Seeing new solar technologies and ways to store solar energy gets me excited about a cleaner future.
I also enjoy reading and thinking about philosophy. It helps me understand the bigger picture of why clean energy like solar & wind is important for our world. Combining my interest in solar energy with thoughts from philosophy makes me even more eager to contribute to making energy use better and more responsible.
4. What is the best task you are working on right now?
The best task I am working on right no
w involves developing a heat decarbonisation framework for a project. This task is engaging and fulfilling as it aligns with my passion for transitioning towards cleaner energy solutions. Through this framework, we are identifying strategies to reduce carbon emissions from heating systems, which is a crucial step towards achieving energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. The process of researching, analysing current systems, and proposing innovative solutions within this framework is both challenging and rewarding. It is exciting to be part of a project that not only has a positive impact on the environment but also paves the way for sustainable practices in the energy sector.
5. Do you have a talent or hobby you do outside of work?
Outside of work, I keep active by hitting the gym regularly. I also love reading books which allows me to explore innovative ideas. Watching Formula 1 races gets my adrenaline pumping, and I really enjoy the strategy behind it. Lastly, hanging out with friends is always a wonderful time, whether we're catching up over coffee or enjoying a game night. These hobbies keep my life fun and balanced.
6. What is something you would like to do this year that you have never done before?
This year, I want to try
bungee jumping. It seems scary but exciting. I also want to get into professional cycling. I like biking and want to take it up a notch. Both are new challenges I am looking forward to.
7. What is the most exciting part about your job?
The most exciting part of my job is making strategies for heating systems. It is like solving tricky puzzles to find the best solutions. Once I figure it out, I share my findings with the directors. It is exciting to see how my plans can help and improve the company.
8. Can you describe your typical day working in the LCE Team?
In the LCE Team, my typical day is busy but fun. I start by checking emails for any new updates. Then, I wo
rk on making heating strategies better. Around noon, I talk to fellow colleague about how our projects are going and solve any problems together. In the afternoon, I look at data and prepare reports to show to the directors. I also talk with other departments to make sure we are all working together well. My day has a lot of problem-solving and working with others, which keeps it interesting.
9. What are your personal plans/goals for the coming year?
Next year, I want to do more outdoor activities like hiking and bungee jumping to challenge myself. I also plan to learn more for my job by going to workshops and learning new software for better heating plans. I want to read more books to learn new things and have good talks with friends. Also, I plan to join some cycling races for fun and to stay healthy. These goals will help me grow, get better at my job, and enjoy time with friends.
