LCE is pleased to introduce Ahmed Jama as our new Energy & Sustainability Engineer

We are pleased to welcome Ahmed Jama to our expanding team. Ahmed's journey into the Energy and Environmental industry began while conducting a University project that focused on tackling aviation emissions. Learning about the scale of the challenge and the opportunities to make an impact led him down a path of exploring energy solutions and environmental strategies that can help to achieve a more sustainable world. Darren Jones, CEO, says, , "Ahmed is a welcome addition to our growing team of Energy & Sustainability Engineers. His enthusiasm and passion for the industry, his desire to make a positive change, and his skill set are an asset to the larger team."

We asked Ahmed a few questions about his interests:

What are you passionate about?

I’ve always enjoyed solving problems and finding ways to make things better. Whether it’s a small optimisation or a large-scale project, I love getting stuck in and seeing how engineering can deliver real benefits for clients and the environment.

What’s the best task you’re working on right now?

Right now, I’m working on a few heat decarbonisation projects, which are really exciting. It’s fascinating to look at different solutions and plan them in phases that help our clients move closer to net zero in a practical, achievable way.

Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

Outside of work, I like to keep active — I play five-a-side football with friends every week. I’m also really interested in forex trading and often spend some time in the mornings analysing the markets before work. Growing up in Sheffield, I’ve always been surrounded by greenery and the Peak District, so whenever I get the chance, I love heading out for a walk or exploring local nature reserves.

What’s something you’d like to do this year that you’ve never done before?

I love travelling and discovering new places that people might usually overlook. This year, I’ve got a few destinations on my bucket list that I’d like to tick off — I really enjoy learning about different cultures and ways of life.

What’s the most exciting part about your job?

The best part of my job is seeing the projects we work on come to life. It’s really rewarding to know that the ideas and solutions we’ve developed as a team are being implemented and making a positive impact in terms of energy, cost, and carbon savings.

What does a typical day in the LCE Team look like for you?

No two days are the same, which is something I really enjoy. A typical day might involve managing a project, working directly with clients on-site, or collaborating with the team remotely to bring everything together. It’s a great mix of technical work, teamwork, and problem-solving.

What are your goals for the year ahead?

This year, I want to get involved in more projects that support our clients’ sustainability and carbon reduction goals. I’m also looking to build on my knowledge and gain further qualifications in sustainability and environmental management.
